Title How long does the application process take to teach English?
ÀÛ¼ºÀÏ 2009-05-23
Generally the process takes 6-10 weeks to be a teacher depending on what documents you need to get. How quickly you can get your documents will have a direct impact on how quickly we can secure teaching jobs.

After we receive your application, we will review its contents and contact you. If you meet our application criteria to teach English, we will arrange a phone interview with you. After the phone interview, we will contact you to let you know if you have been accepted as a Pegasus teacher. Teacher jobs are available monthly and we get new requests daily from our schools looking for quality teachers.

We then find look for teaching jobs, which meet your requests. We will let you know once we have a job and send out your resume. If a school has interest in hiring you, we will arrange an interview with the school director. This is a good opportunity to discuss the specifics of the job, get a feel for the teaching job and ask any specific questions about teaching. If all goes well, the director will send you a contract which you should review before accepting the teaching job.

We then contact you will all the necessary details needed to process your visa for your teacher job. The director will then ask you to send the necessary documents to Korea to secure your job. Once the school has received your papers they will go to the Immigration Office to apply for your work visa. This takes about a week. The school will email you a Visa Insurance number which you then have to take to the Korean Consulate nearest to you, along with your passport and some other documents. It may sound a little confusing, however, we will assist you every step of the way for teaching English overseas and make sure you are informed and know exactly what needs to be done. Once you have your E2 visa you are ready to teach.

Meanwhile, we will work with the school to book your flight and arrange your itinerary. Once you have your visa, we will arrange your ticket and send you an e-ticket. Sometimes you will be required to buy your own ticket, which will be reimbursed shortly after you arrive. We will also arrange with the school to have someone meet you at the airport. Sometimes, you may be asked to take a shuttle bus to a hotel near the school, the airport is quite far from the city and sometimes the director may not be able to get there. Often this depends on when you arrive. If this is the case they will let you know exactly which bus to take and where to get off and someone will meet you at the hotel to take you to your new apartment. After that we are just a phone call or email away. If you need any assistance or have any questions we are happy to help.

All the ESL teachers know what it¡¯s like to be a newcomer and we want to establish a community of OxfordKorea  Teachers.
